Building thriving communities and caring about people is what drives me as a community leader.
Along with three generations of my family, I call the Cardinia Shire home. My family have lived in rural parts of the shire as well as in the bustling growth corridor, so I gained an appreciation for the diverse landscape of our community from a young age.
I moved to Pakenham in 2007 and was elected to Cardinia Shire Council in 2016, where I represent Central Ward. It’s in my work as a local government councillor that I’m able to advocate for the future of the community we all share. Building thriving communities and caring for people is what drives me as a community leader.
My areas of interest include preventative health care, disability access, social inclusion, and ensuring Cardinia Shire has the appropriate social infrastructure to cater to a growing population. Advocating social change has always been something I am passionate about because I believe that people should have equal opportunities irrespective of background.
In my professional life, I’m a registered nurse with a speciality in paediatrics. I currently work as an associate nurse manager in a busy emergency department. It is the provision of quality care outcomes for children that has guided my career in the healthcare sector. I also provide private in-home care as a specialist paediatric nurse within our community.
Whilst my professional career and community work may seem like very different worlds, I believe they interconnect well. Being on council gives me the ability to plan and advocate for current and emerging communities, whereas in the healthcare environment I’m able to provide immediate care to people who are unwell. For communities to thrive and succeed, frontline services and community planning need to work in synergy.
I always enjoy spending time with local residents - not only to learn more about their achievements, but also to further understand what makes our community tick.
